INITIAL D THE MOVIE IS AWESOME TIMES TEN!

Sorry for making this entry even longer than it already was.. But I just got home from the premiere screening of Initial D at KLCC with my MMU classmates, Lee Chuan and Phaik Gaik. So exciting! So happy! =D I wasn’t expecting to get to attend the very first screening tonight, so it was a wonderful surprise. You might say the free ticket fell right into my lap without any warning… and it’s sponsored by MYC, so thanks. ;) Got a goodie bag as well, which contained a poster, a collection of postcards, and car stickers. Nice nice.

First thing that I have to mention about the movie is, of course, that Edison Chen (as Ryousuke Takahashi) looked absolutely hot. *faints* When I saw Ed during the first scene, I went tug tug tug at Lee Chuan’s sleeve and also whack whack whack at his arm, chattering “It’s Edison! Ahhhhh!!” Poor LC. LoL His only reply was, “Geez, go hug the screen lar!” Hee. :P Jay Chou (Takumi Fujiwara) looked like, well, Jay Chou.. Very cool and nonchalant. And he spoke his own lines which were all in Cantonese - pretty impressive for a Taiwanese guy, yes? :) The accent was kinda off but whatever. :P And Shawn Yue (Takeshi Nagazato) has cheekbones so sharp that he could carve bread with them or something. And Jordan Chan (Kyouichi Sudou) was, I felt, under-utilized as a character. And Edison Chen was hot. Hiaks. :) :)

Okay okay, seriously though.. I loved every single bit of the movie. (Not comparing the movie to the anime though.) Here’s a few reasons why Initial D rocks:
- gorgeous cars (EVO III, Skyline GT-R, RX-7 FC, and err, the Trueno AE86 :P)
- thrilling car races throughout the 1 hour 40 minutes movie
- lots of hilarious moments, courtesy of Chapman To and Anthony Wong’s characters (the entire cinema was laughing every few minutes)
- the music was good, think Need For Speed soundtracks mixed in with some of Jay’s signature R&B tunes
- hot guys (you know I just had to remind you :P)
- hot girl (the actress/model Anne Suzuki who played Takumi’s girlfriend)
- the essence of the movie; “we all need to find a world that we belong to, only then will life be meaningful” (can’t remember the exact words to the dialogue, but it was something like that)
- the fact that the movie was set in Japan but everyone talked in Cantonese (okay I don’t love it, I just found it funny :D)

Oh oh! We saw an exact replica of the white FC that Edison/Ryousuke drove in Initial D, at the parking lot in KLCC when we came out after the movie. It even had the words “Red Suns” splashed across the side of the car. Coolness. Must be a big fan there. :)

Okie I’m done being happy on the blog. Hehe. Go watch the movie, opening on June 23rd.. good stuff!!

I’ve taken off the mp3 download section (Music Of The Moment) for now and it’ll only be back next month… The reason being that it’s used up 80% of my bandwidth and the site would’ve been suspended in about 3 days’ time if I let it continue at the rate it’s been going at..! Shocking, huh? I never had any bandwidth problems before this… I did a check and apparently there had so far been 800 downloads of the Jimmy Eat World mp3 I put up a few weeks ago. Omg. Never realized the song was so popular. Hmm…

How bad do I need a new layout? Pretty badly I guess. This one has been up for ages. But I’m sure you’ll understand that I’m facing Photoshop at work day in day out, so the last thing I’d want to look at when I get home is, well, Photoshop again. :P But I already have an idea of what the next new design should be like. *excited* Now it’s just a matter of materializing the idea on the computer.. *not so excited anymore* Hehe.

Pictures time! The first batch is taken during a welcome back party at a suite in Eastin Hotel for Jolyne (whom I only met on the night of the party itself ;P).. I still need to pass the entire load of photos to Becky so that she can arrange and make them pretty and basically work her magic.. ;) The ones I’m posting here will serve as just the appetizer for the main course! :) And the second batch of pictures are from last Saturday’s meet-up with Ted, Jenny, and LiEw. Ted will be heading back to his hometown in JB in a matter of weeks, since he has completed his studies at APIIT. Congrats to him and all other APIIT graduates-to-be. :D We had dinner at this place in TTDI called Boathouse.. where almost every item in the menu is alcohol-based! Beer battered fish and chips, for instance. Aiks. No wonder it’s Alcohol LiEw’s favourite dining spot. LoL Nice seeing Tobacco Ted and Jenny again after such a long time. Hope they’re having fun at Redang, as well as Dan and Chew and so on. :) Redang is being conquered by APIIT people, gosh. Oh, and I finally stepped into Aero after hearing about the place for years now. YAY. Mission accomplished. Anyway read LiEw’s blog for a (slightly) more comprehensive entry about Saturday night. Haha woots.

One more thing.. This has been circulating around the ‘net a bit, and I laughed out loud when I was reading it. Umm, only Malaysians will get the humour, I guess.. :)

A Tale Of Two Sons

Once, there was a family known as Malaysia. In 1985, they were blessed with their first born, Proton. The family loved Proton all they can. They gave Proton everything. They protected Proton from the bigger boys in Kindergarden. They told Proton, “You’re young, you need protection from them. It’s okay to make mistakes, you’re young. Even if you don’t learn from mistakes…it’s okay…you are young.”

Proton became spoilt. He always depended on parents and used up all his allowance on useless things. When he had to do his chores, he paid people to do it and the work is lousy, causing the parents having to call repairmen to fix all the mess that he made.

Anyway, when Proton was 10 (but he still acted like he is 1 or 2 years old), he had a younger brother, Perodua. At first, everyone thought this younger brother will be like Proton. Anyway, this new baby was more handsome and looks smarter than Proton. Malaysia knew there is a possibilty Perodua could be smarter than Proton. Since they love Proton so much, they decided that Perodua can only learn a few things. Cannot learn the same thing as Proton. This is so that Perodua wouldn’t beat Proton at what Proton is doing.

Although Perodua was also protected by Malaysia, he learn to be independent very fast. He made good friends with Daihatsu, who had an elder brother Toyota. The two of them helped Perodua in everything. Perodua, being independent and smart, learnt a lot and in a short while, was becoming as good as, if not better, than Proton.

Malaysia realized that Perodua was becoming better than his brother. Although proud of Perodua, they still love Proton best. They paid Lotus (which is older and well known worldwide) to be friends with Proton. Using this advantage, Proton mentioned Lotus everytime he wanted to tell people about himself. On this own, he was still the same.

Moreover, Proton is always not updated. When doing his work, he still uses the typewriter and refuses to use the computer. Perodua, so much younger, used the computer, with broadband for his work. Perodua was improving so much that Toyota has assigned him with his work, codename Avanza.

2005. Proton is 20 years old, Perodua only 10. It was obvious that Perodua was the more successful of the two siblings. What is worse, Proton said he still need his parents to help him for another 10 years. He still need to protection from the big boys. In May 2005, Perodua was about the show Malaysia his best work so far…codename Myvi. Proton, being jealous…quickly came up with an unprofessional remark about Perodua’s work and show his work at the same time as Perodua on purpose

The future of Malaysia and her two kids are still unknown. But it would be obvious that Perodua will shine, leaving Proton crying. It would be a wonder if in 2015, Proton will ask Malaysia for another 10 years of help and protection…maybe this time…protection from Perodua as well………..THE END

It’s another quiz! Thanks to George for tagging me back after I tagged ya (sigh :P). Hehe. So let’s get this one out of the way before anything else…

1. In your opinion, what are your top 5 best and worst personality traits?
My best trait is that I don’t have any worst trait, and vice versa.. can I answer it like that? :P Yeah? Yeah? Okie next!

2. “Half the world is composed of idiots, the other half of people clever enough to take indecent advantage of them.” - Walter Kerr. Where do you stand?
Hmm it doesn’t matter what the ratio is, half half or whatever… The important thing is, who’s leading who? Just take a look at America. Hello, Dubya aka George W. Bush. *coughs* Enough said.. :)

3. If given a chance to start life anew somewhere else, cutting all ties with your family and friends, would you do it? Why and where (if the answer is yes)?
I wouldn’t do it. Through the ups and downs, I’m still grateful for all that I have with me right now. Besides, the new life elsewhere just might turn out worse. Then what, start a new new life? How tiring! I’m going to be lazy and just stay put here. LoL

4. How can you make a difference?
Make a difference? in what? <-- Uhh exactly. *skips the question* Haha.

5. Do you love me?
Well uhh.. I love your taste in music, George. Hehe.

6: If you were to dance anywhere, where would you dance? and why?
(for obvious reasons) In da club! Preferably with R&B or hip hop music. Wheee.

7: Would it be great/bad if you are allowed to drink at work? and why? by you i mean you and not in general.
Me? Nope.. I like to separate fun time from work time. ;) Although I have a friend of a friend who is known to brainstorm for assignment ideas better after knocking back with a bottle or two.. and that was what he did for his final year project! No kidding. Haha.

8: If you are a man and can sleep with any girl you know, who would it be and why?
I don’t have to answer this, do I? *skips again*

9: Do you believe in sex before marriage? What’s your moral stance in this?
Hmm. *smiles and waves to readers from church* Okie in all honesty.. I’m pro-choice. Do what you want, whenever you want.. Just as long as you know you’re doing it for the right reasons. Some people choose to wait, and some don’t. It’s all good. *shrugs*

10: If you hate your job, wtf did you choose it in the first place? What is your dream job and why?
Easy - I don’t hate my job. :) My dream job would be… to work as a professional slacker! Bet you didn’t see that one coming, rite? ;D Haha.

All rites, I’m done with quizzes for now until eternity. No more tagging me yeah? Thanks. :D Hehe.

So how was everyone’s weekend? I have to say that the highlight of my weekend was actually Saturday night when I got to meet up with some of my favourite MMU people :) :) - Jimmy, Jia Jia, Eng Seen, Jasmine, and Lee Chuan. Yayy. I’ve missed them muches! Edison Sow was missing coz he was out elsewhere with another group of friends.. and therefore no love for him. Tsk tsk. We were chilling at Hartamas’s Coffee Bean, and right behind it was Dragon Bar. I was sorta bopping my head along to the music from it, and I got teased about being a partygirl.. wtf. That was so uncalled for, I tell you. Blehs. :P

Oh, and just last night (Sunday) I was with a few other Mamak Gang members.. hanging out at a room in Eastin Hotel with a bunch of other people. With 5 bottles of Black Label. Sounds scandalous? Hehe. Okie so we were actually there for a surprise welcome-home party for Jolyne, who just returned from the UK. :) Pictures will be up later. I’m too tired today.. Yeah, it was a heavy night last night. In fact it’s been a heavy week… trust me on that one. Okay, enough babbling now. ‘NitezZzz..

amazing still it seems…

I’m sick.

Wait, didn’t we already go through this? A few weeks ago I was down with a fever and sore throat.. well this time it’s the FLU. Oh fun.

I barely slept last night. It started out with nonstop sneezing, which became better after I dragged myself downstairs to pop a Panadol. But I still couldn’t sleep for the next few hours - insomnia struck! Perfect timing, huh? I was sick and I couldn’t even have the luxury to have a good night’s rest.. ;( That’s the worst part about insomnia. You can be the most tired out person in the entire world but you’d still be wide awake. It’s all psychological. *stress*

So I went to work today on a very low energy level.. and my boss asked me to take the day off to rest! He even got one of my colleagues to make me some sort of herbal drink before I left the office. “Drink that, go to sleep, and you’ll recover for sure by the next day!” Mr Boss declared. Let’s hope he’s right. I really appreciated the fact that I got to sleep soundly this afternoon, the moment I got home. :)

Oh, Bar Savanh on Saturday night was an interesting time. ;) Much thanks to Becky for the invite, and to her friend for taking care of the paying part for everyone, all by himself (eeks).

If you haven’t noticed already, there’s some new songs uploaded for all of you over on the left sidebar there. :) I’m gonna quote a bit of the lyrics for Jimmy Eat World’s 23 here.. Emo music rocks. :D

Amazing still it seems
I’ll be 23
I won’t always love what I’ll never have
I won’t always live in my regrets

Today was a HAPPY day for me, mainly because I got to ride in a Lancer Evo 7!!! What a beauty, no? :D :D It was definitely one trip to the mamak that I will remember for a long time to come. Thanks to Raymond for the ride, woots!! And yeah it was fun fun fun even though I was in the backseat, unlike someone who got to occupy the front passenger seat (a Recaro bucket seat, no less!)… blekss. *sticks out tongue at Ian*

When will you be picking us up in a lovely white Supra next, Ray? ;) *dreams* Mwahaha.

Two bigger pictures of the Evo 7 - here and here. Sorry the location and the lighting weren’t suitable for photo taking. I tried my best though. :)

So anyway, I got home after the Evo 7 experience, smiling and such.. and decided to snap some more photos.. this time I got my pet poodle to pose for me. Hiaks. So cute.

Also, I got tagged by LiEw to do the 5-question thingy. So here we go!

Total volume of music files on my computer:
10GB. Not very much at all. I only download songs that I reallyyy like. :P

The last CD I bought:
*takes a long time to recall* Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane. Oh wait I didn’t buy it, I got it as a gift. Oh well.

Song playing right now:
Brian McKnight’s Everytime You Go Away. Scott Savol sang this in American Idol before.. good stuff!

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
Only five?! That’s tough..
1. Coldplay - The Scientist
This song easily tops the list.
“tell me your secrets, nurse me your questions, oh let’s go back to the start”

2. Usher & Alicia Keys - My Boo
I can never get tired of this song! It’s perfect for all kinds of moods.

3. Splender - I Think God Can Explain
“There’s a lot of things I understand
And there’s a lot of things
That I don’t want to know
But you’re the only face I recognize
It’s so damn sweet of you
To look me in the eyes”

4. Yellowcard - Only One
Nice shimmering guitar work at the beginning, nice yelling by the singer during the chorus.. a sing-along kind of tune. <3

5. Jay Chou - Qing Tian (Fine Day)
Besides being one heck of a good song, it also holds a bucketful of memories. So there. :)

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
*randomly chosen*
Becky/Maxine/Yeeng @ t-m.net
Terence
Ivan
Gwen
George
