sun sea sand and no surf
Posted on Thu, August 25th, 2005 @ 12:32 am

I’m back from my weekend getaway to Perhentian Island with six other MMU friends!

I reached home sometime after 12 on Sunday night… pretty tired now still from all the snorkeling we did on Friday and Saturday. We made plenty of stops around Perhentian Island, Redang Island, and Lang Tengah Island. I saw baby sharks. :D We didn’t manage to catch glimpses of any adult sharks - which is both good and bad, I guess. It would definitely have made the entire snorkeling experience more memorable if we did, but then again I would probably get traumatized as well. Hey, I was one of those who got deeply petrified after watching Jaws a long time ago, okie? :P Anyway I got sooo fucking sunburnt, especially around the shoulder blades. Ouchness. But the pain’s worth the trip! It was cool how we were on quite a number of modes of transportation - the train, taxi, boat, airplane. *feels like an extensive traveller now* Haha. ;)

Pictures..! There would’ve been more but I left my camera back at the chalet while we were out snorkeling during the day. :P

No time to rest on Monday… I was at Sri Kembangan to look at the apartment unit I’ll be sharing with LP and Raphael for our final year at MMU. After that me and LP followed Seen around, who was the designated driver for the day.. He has scary driving skills that lose out only to mine! LoL I was sleepy but I couldn’t drift off coz the car ride was making me dizzy. And it didn’t help that Seen kept looking behind to laugh at my “stoned face”, as he called it. Blearghs. Next destination was to Hartamas where he had some stuff to drop off. He pointed out the newest addition to the clubbing scene there - a place called SODA - then we headed back to Cyberjaya. I got to hang out with LP and another ex-housemate of mine, Jeen, at their office where they were interning. :P At night I took the train down to KLCC for a job interview on my own. I actually enjoyed the time alone, although I know some of my friends got worried that I was going on the public transport system without anyone else after dark, and offered to drive me to and from KLCC. What can I say? Sometimes it’s good to just do things by myself and for myself. :)

If I’m being a bit antisocial.. Just so you know, some drama occurred over the weekend. It’s nothing huge, hopefully.. I’m just leaving some phone calls unanswered for the time being, and stuff like that. Mm, catch me if you can on MSN/Yahoo, I won’t be online there much but I’m not completely disappearing either. Hehe. Take care everyone.

weekend madness
Posted on Tue, August 16th, 2005 @ 12:39 am

I had the BEST weekend. It was also one of the craziest and weirdest, ahahah. Here’s the basic run down…

-Went to Sunway Pyramid for movies, twice [Friday & Saturday]
-Went to KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) just to hang out, twice [Friday & Sunday]
-Went to Nilai just to hang out too, twice [Friday & Sunday]

Yeah, so tell me if that doesn’t look nuts to you. :P But it was a lot of fun!!

On Friday I watched Charlie And The Chocolate Factory with a few beloved MG people, and I have to say that we were definitely laughing the loudest in the cinema. Haha! The movie itself was queer in every sense… very whimsical with an offbeat kind of humour… The Oompa Loompas rocked.. teehee. It was good all in all. Refreshingly different from the usual Hollywood flicks, as what you’d expect when Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are involved in it. ;) And yeah, Johnny Depp still looked great even with thick makeup and strange hair. Wheee.

I met up with my MMU friends, XiaoYun and LeeChuan after that. We wanted to celebrate the fact that all three of us were done with internship, so off we sped to KLIA for some Burger King. It was something that we had not done in a long while.. the last time was back in April right after we finished our exams! On the way, we suddenly decided to head to Nilai first for wantan noodles at this popular stall that opens at 3 AM. :D Had an awesome time with these two.. I laughed a lot. And oh, we saw a dead snake that got run over on a Cyberjaya road.. Eeks. :( I never knew there were snakes at Cyberjaya, until LeeChuan told me that he and his friend came across a huge green live one about three years ago, at a road near the Ericsson building. They had to stop the car to let the snake cross before continuing their drive. And right after he finished the story, that was when we caught sight of that dead snake! Freaky deaky stuff..

It was good to get to see XiaoYun before she leaves for home at Labuan. This wonderful girl passed me a CD she burned with tons of songs from the Korean singer, Rain aka Bi aka Jung Ji Hoon. *phew, this guy has too many names* She also included the soundtrack to Rain’s series, Full House, plus some of his music videos.. and pictures of hot guys. Yayy. :) I always get giggly and fangirly with XiaoYun, seeing as how we both share the same enthusiasm for Edison Chen and Rain, among others. Fun fun fun. I finally reached home sometime after 6 AM that night. Dad was already up, and he said to me “Good morning” to which I replied a quick “Good morning” too, and then ran upstairs to get some shuteye. Hehe. :P

Sunday proved to be even more exciting than Friday… I ended up at KLIA’s Burger King again, this time with Maxine and Ian of the MGs. :) We ate our dinner there, had a bit of drama with a missing parking token for a while, and after that we drove to Nilai to look for Lawrence, another MG friend. LoL “Omg, we’re in a different state!” Ian exclaimed when he saw the Negeri Sembilan flag at the mamak we were drinking at. “This is crazy,” Maxine and Ian kept saying throughout the night. So funny. :D And if that wasn’t enough excitement yet, Lawrence led us back to KLIA to an obscure spot where we got to see planes landing and taking off, from quite a close proximity. It was AMAZING. Better than those observartion decks in the airport anyday. There’s this sense of both peace and adrenaline running through you, standing so near to the planes and watching them until they become mere dots of lights in the distance. What a blast that was!

It’s too bad that I only brought my camera out on Friday.. So here’s some photos from that night. Here’s to more crazy outings with crazy people~ Haha. ;)

Well you need a blue sky holiday…

So says Daniel Powter in his cheerful song entitled, uhh, ‘Bad Day’. :P Blue sky holiday - how appropriate, huh? Considering the extremely (x5) hazy weather these days!! The rain doesn’t help much either, for some reason. It just adds wetness to the smoky environment. Sigh. I want a blue sky holiday, and a break from the horrible haze. I guess everyone’s wishing for the same. :)

Had a heck of a time at Becky’s party last Saturday… Thank you for the madness, the food (Mangsa-Mangsa Tsunami and Terence’s Tangled Nets!), the liquor (Midori… yummy green water :P)… Yes yes, can’t forget the breakfast feast of leftover food as well the next morning. LoL Thank goodness Raymond knew how to work the microwave, unlike me. ;) Happy Birthday once again, Beckyyy. :D Really do hope you liked the Betty Barclay perfume that we got you.. Hehe.

Sunday was the birthday celebration of Robin, with the usual MMU bunch. We had steamboat buffet at Sri Kembangan, yayy! More munching and bloated tummy-ness. *oof* Coincidentally Sunday (7th) was International Friendship Day too.. So Happy Belated Friendship Day to everyone. :)

I can never stress enough, how much friendships mean to me. The truly&reallyreal ones, that is. I hope I never take them for granted… About 1.5 years ago, something huge happened and I remember having 3 amazing individuals by my side, when I had no one else to turn to and no one left to trust. I wonder if I ever did say a proper thank you to each of them - for being my shoulder to cry on, for letting me crash at their place on so many nights, for staying up with me to watch movies when I couldn’t sleep, for the car rides to all sorts of destinations when I needed an escape.. for caring. Without stretching the truth, I’d say it was because of them that I managed to pull through the darkest time of my life yet. :) They restored my faith in friendships and kind souls. I dunno if I can ever repay them but that’s the beauty of it, isn’t it? They didn’t do anything to hope for something in return. Well they definitely have my eternal gratitude. Thanks, you and you and you.

Seriously, true friends are always worth the effort to care for and be there for. That’s all I know. Seeing my friends happy, makes me happy. If I were to go back to the fundamental things that make me smile, this would probably top the list. So cheesy, I know, but I mean it. :P Though recently someone teasingly chided that I didn’t stay in contact often enough with him. Aiks. ;( So I’m stepping up on the whole keeping in touch thing.. I realize that I haven’t spoken to some people in AGES anyway and I’ve missed them so. :)

There’s 2 new songs for your downloading pleasure, if you noticed. *claps claps* I’ve mentioned the Daniel Powter song at the beginning of this post. As for the Jennifer Lopez track, well… Y’know, I usually don’t listen to her stuff and I only ever liked 2 songs from her.. Haha okie fine, maybe 3 at the most. Anyway ‘Hold You Down’ is one that I do enjoy. It talks about friendship in a way that I can totally relate to. So I’ll end this rambling entry of mine with the lyrics. Let’s sing along! Hehe. ;)

Jennifer Lopez ft Fat Joe - Hold You Down

[Verse 1]
[Jennifer:]
Now you’ve been holding me down
For such a long time now
From back then
To now in my story
Straight from the hood
You’ve always been there for me
And ya had my back
(When they) Back when everybody said
I wasn’t anything
It was you who had me holdin’ on
No matter what was goin’ on
So no whatever ya need I got you

[Fat Joe:]
Reminiscing that 6 train from way back
Now its sky blue phantoms and stretch may backs
Sweepin’ them floors in them Bronx apartments
Mira esta que on that red carpet
With Pun died you was the first to call me
I never told you but you was there for me
Whatever you need, I’ll be there for you
Crack - I got ya back for real (True story)

[Bridge]
[Jennifer:]
Now my loyalty, will always be
With you, if you just promise me
That you’ll stay real just like you are
‘Cause baby you don’t have to change (no)

[Chorus]
[Jennifer:]
You don’t know how much you mean to me
Whenever you down
You know that you can lean on me
No matter the situation
Boy, I’m gon’ hold you down

[Fat Joe:]
You don’t know how much you mean to me
Whenever you down
You know that you can lean on me
No matter the situation
Girl, I’m gon’ hold you down

[Verse 2]
[Fat Joe:]
2005 Rakim and Jody Watley
Why’d she paint such a picture so perfect
Quite possibly
The real expression from BX
To South Beach
I’ma always hold you down, girl
You can count on me

[Jennifer:]
So remember this whenever I call
We go back too far
We’ve been through it all
Even though we haven’t spoke
In so long
Ain’t nothing has changed
Not a damn thing, baby

[Bridge]
[Jennifer:]
Now my loyalty, will always be
With you, if you just promise me
That you’ll stay real just like you are
‘Cause baby you don’t have to change because

[Chorus]
[Jennifer:]
You don’t know how much you mean to me
Whenever you down
You know that you can lean on me
No matter the situation
Boy, I’m gon’ hold you down

[Fat Joe:]
You don’t know how much you mean to me
Whenever you down
You know that you can lean on me
No matter the situation
Girl, I’m gon’ hold you down

[Verse 3]
[Fat Joe:]
Like green, it’s the autumns
Things will stay
This industry, yeah, I fought
Made me this way
Get between me and J.Lo
I simply stay
You better off sweepin’ leaves
On a windy day (no)

[Jennifer:]
So I don’t care about the situation
I’ma ride for you if there’s a complication
Every time you had my back and all
When we were young
Now you Joe, we crackin’ off

Life’s been a little quiet lately… and I actually like it that way. :) When you slow down, you get a chance to appreciate even the smallest precious things.

Last Saturday was funny though. Somehow - I went to Midvalley Megamall twice (that’s from Subang >> KL >> Subang >> KL >> Subang); a couple of us had San Francisco coffee while sitting in Coffee Bean; and towards the end of the night when we went to look for a friend at Pizza San Francisco, someone asked warily, “This isn’t the same as San Francisco coffee, is it? Twice in a day would be too much!” Haha. I dunno, the whole day was just funny. It’s always funny when I’m hanging out with MMU people. :P

Speaking of funny… Anyone here watching the Korean series Full House? It’s at 8:30pm every week night on 8tv. It’s good stuff, I die laughing at every episode. :D I’ve never ever been a fan of Korean dramas, coz they’re always so, erm, dramatic.. not to mention draggy. The last time I tried sitting through one of those shows, I ended up snoozing within five minutes.

But but but! Full House totally won me over. Probably coz it’s a comedy, and you hardly ever get to witness any Korean humour in their other shows. The plot’s simple enough… Basically it’s about a guy and a girl who are forced to get into a fake marriage agreement through some weird circumstances, and they have to live together in this huge gorgeous house overlooking the sea shore. What makes the show hilarious is the way this ‘loving couple’ fight and insult each other to no end, but there are plenty of sugar sweet moments too. It’s the kind of pleasant show that leaves you with a happy smile at the end of each episode. :) And okay, the lead actors are nice to look at.. their characters are so beyond adorable. The guy (Rain aka Jeung Ji Hun aka Bi) kinda reminds me of my classmate Robin though, so that ruins the mood a bit. Heh heh. Robin insists that he’s better looking, as if! Bleks. Here’s some Full House visuals -

(sarcastically) “I love you too, honey!” “My love for you is this high!”

For once, they’re not yelling or hitting at each other. Aww. :)

Oh, and it’s August 3rd today. Sooo… Happy 21st Birthday to Becky! And Happy 18th Birthday to Gwen. :D :D Hope you both have a fantastic day. *hugs*
