au revoirPosted on Wed, March 28th, 2007 @ 11:53 pm
In French, “au revoir” is commonly used when you part with someone. It’s often mistaken as the equivalent to a normal “goodbye”. But in fact it actually means, “until we meet again.”
That sounds a lot less final than “goodbye”, ya? :)
This week alone, I have had 2 friends leaving Malaysian shores.
I’ve never been good at dealing with people leaving - I’d just start to think about the good times we’ve shared, and how I won’t be able to see them at any given day anymore. There will be voids where their presence once filled… And it’s not fun, I’ll tell you that.
But on the other hand, I’m so happy for them because they’re moving on to hopefully better things in their life. It’s going to be a whole new adventure, how exciting is that rite? :D
To my “chi mui” who is at the land of sheep already - nobody can ever accuse you of being a bad friend. Hope your new life there brings you everything you dream of, and I’m going to miss hanging out with you. Thanks for always listening to my silly problems. I probably have never known the true meaning of yao yi hei until I knew you. :)
And to EngSeen whose feet are touching Singapore ground right about now - have fun with your new job! It’s going to be really peaceful and quiet without your constant jokes and laughter and monkey-ness… ;( Thanks for lending a helping hand when I need one, and I would’ve forgotten about our conversation at Sunway’s Kim Gary 2 years ago if you hadn’t reminded me later on. You gave some good advice, and it came true eventually. Cheers to my eating + lepak + clubbing kaki. We’ll go for MOS together with the rest of the Singapore gang sometime this year ya. :D
And to both my dear friends… Au revoir… Until we meet again. :)

happy birthday to BK ‘07Posted on Fri, March 23rd, 2007 @ 11:37 pm
This post goes out to a person whom I used to call one of my best friends, back when I still believed in the concept of best friends. ;) This is the kind of friend who would cheer you up when you’re upset, would cook supper for you when you’re tired of assignments, and would tell you funny riddles in the middle of the night when you’re trying to get some sleep. Those were the good old university days… :)
It’s great that until now, he’s always a source of friendly voice on the phone, and he would greet with a bright smile whenever we happen to bump into each other.
Happy 23rd Birthday, BK. :D I’ll see you around Phileo Damansara on the rare days that you’re not at your client’s place. Heh heh.

gloomy tuesdayPosted on Tue, March 20th, 2007 @ 10:32 am
I drove in the rain on the way back home last night at 1 AM…
And this morning I drove in the rain to work at 8.30 AM…
It’s been raining. And it’s still raining.
It’s just one more day
No one said
There would be rain again
Won’t blame it on myself
I’ll blame it on the weatherman
Get away for a while
Here I am out on my own again
Won’t blame it on myself
I’ll blame it on the weatherman

hairy mattersPosted on Sun, March 18th, 2007 @ 3:35 pm
So on a Monday night I strolled into my regular place for getting haircuts - and due to certain misunderstandings, I ended up having to wait for over an hour before it was finally my turn. You could practically see the steam rising from the top of my head!
Also, I was greeted by the new guy instead of Michael, the other hairstylist who’s done the snipping for my hair a couple of times before and so I was pretty comfortable with him already. But nope, Michael was busy with someone else that night.
“Sorry for the misunderstanding earlier,” the new guy said to me with an apologetic smile.
I sighed, frowned, everything about me was showing impatience. “I’ve been sitting for so long, I’ve started to grow moss.” (Okie it sounds less weirder in Chinese)
“Grow moss?” he laughed. “Well sorry again… And, uhh, do you think you can excuse me for just one minute? I need to run to the washroom!”
“…!!! … Okay…” I was speechless at that point.
Like, how hard could it be to just get a #@$#@!% hair trim? It felt sorta like Mission Impossible right then and there.
When he re-appeared, I curtly told him how I wanted my hair to be cut, then let him get started. The icy silence didn’t last long though… I learned that his name was Andy, and soon the conversation trickled in a steady stream. We talked about clubbing - about how Rush just isn’t a great place to go nowadays, ever since it became Police Raid Central, among other reasons.
We moved on to the topic of DotA *mwahaha* - apparently he’s a regular at Asia Cafe’s cybercafe and he was telling me about this girl who was really good at using the Panda hero. Gosh. Personally I suck at using Panda (his specialty is to split into 3 different Pandas, each with different powers) since I have zero mico-management skills. ;(
And I also asked New Guy Andy where was the other Andy (haha) coz I haven’t seen him around the place in a long while. This other Andy was the one who tended to me on my very first visit, and he was one superb hairstylist. NG Andy informed me that sadly, the other Andy had been asked to resign, coz of his temperamental attitude. His stories are legendary - even with children customers, he had little tolerance, even scolding them to sit still during the haircut. Haha geez.
And so I walked out of the salon in a better mood than before… Besides, the new guy’s skills weren’t too bad. At least I don’t look like a monster… right?! ;)

two am part IIPosted on Wed, March 14th, 2007 @ 2:19 am
I’m up yet again to witness 2 AM passing me by. Work still awaits tomorrow but I’m just not ready to sleep yet. Hmm what can I do?
Whatever it is, just don’t ask me to lie on my bed until I feel sleepy. :P That’s the last thing I’d do, coz I’d just end up tossing and turning, wide awake, and thoughts would start to swim around in my head… and then I’d end up being less sleepy than ever before. Not fun!
Y’know.. I’d rather keep myself occupied with something to do, even if it’s just surfing aimlessly on the ‘Net or listening to my Winamp playlist or flipping through a magazine. Until when? Until I’m sure I’m tired enough to doze off immediately the moment my head hits the pillow…! Yeahh.
I think I have an unbalanced sleeping pattern.
There was this one time back when I was studying in university - my housemates and I had spent the entire night playing Warcraft together, and we finally ended at 6 AM. Everyone went to bed but I wasn’t sleepy yet… So I started working on an assignment right there and then, just as the sun was peeking out through the dawn sky. LoL It was 11 AM when I called it a night and went off to catch some zzz’s.
It’s almost 2.30 AM now. Again… I wonder what can I do?
