back to the street where we began
Posted on Wed, December 31st, 2008 @ 5:36 pm

Okay, so maybe I’m not that lazy after all. Here are the highlights and low points of my 2008, in no particular order. Drumroll please. :D

♥ Fun fun fun trips to *takes a deep breath* Gabai waterfall, Genting, Kampar, Port Dickson, Melaka, Singapore, and Krabi!
♠ Working a job that pays lower than what I was receiving a year ago.
♥ Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours… definitely song of the year for me, it’s such a summery chillin’ smiley song. =)
♠ That surgery back in January.
♥ Seemingly endless sessions of sushi and potatoes and jasmine tea. And that’s how it should always be.
♠ Falling sick 3 times in a row in a span of 2 months.
♥ Being sent to Outward Bound School in Lumut for 10 days, and surviving it… and even missing it somewhat on the last day ahahah. Oh and this was where I got to know Jiun and Shah, aka the SIA cadet pilots. ;)
♠ My car got hit 3 times in total, only the last incident was serious enough to lead the car into the workshop though - and luckily, the driver who was behind my car paid for it. Pheww. Oh there was also this time when my car hit the curb near a traffic light… oops. Had one rim replaced.
♥ 2008 brought few but precious lovable movies, like The Dark Knight, 21, Madagascar 2, Bolt, and House Bunny. :P
♠ 2 heartbreaks, one was much more severe than the other.
♥ Hung out at Sky Bar for the first time (April) and then a second time (August). My favorite view of KL, apart from Lookout Point’s.
♥/♠/♥ One year of friendship with Momo. Unbelievable that we even got this far with all the nonsense that we went through. As he said, sometimes it’s just fate. Well I call it bad luck though.. heh heh.
♥ Met loads of new people. Made some new friends, treasured the old ones. :D
♥ Chris. :) 2008 saved the best for last.

merry christmas ‘08
Posted on Wed, December 24th, 2008 @ 2:41 pm

Whoosh! Another year has passed, and in keeping with the tradition on this blog, here’s a Christmas greeting for 2008 yayy. *dances around*

Previous Christmas greetings: 2007 . 2006 . 2005 . 2004

And I know I keep wishing for the same thing every year… well really I don’t see what’s so tough about getting snow in Malaysia. Just for like, one day. Yeahh haha. :D Oh well. A girl can dream, can’t she?

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening,
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland :)

i tried to do handstands for you
Posted on Wed, December 24th, 2008 @ 12:16 am

So 20th December came all too quickly, and it seemed a little unreal to be saying goodbye to Maverick but I did anyway. From colleagues to acquaintances, from friends to crazy lepak buddy… It’s been fun. :D

Chris and I sent him off on that Saturday afternoon, and we couldn’t resist one last retardedness camwhore session in the car, ahahah.

Mave is and always will be the piece of insanity that the group needs to stay sane. Not on purpose, we have the same Nokia 6300 phone and the same iPod Nano (but iPod Touch is his main gadget now eh). And of course, he is also the only person to have played Cupid in my life TWICE. Now this warrants a huge thank you, doesn’t it? ;) THANKS MAVE! You is awesome!

All the best in Hong Kong, Mave! But if things don’t work out, you know we’re all just waiting to welcome you back home for more exciting outings, yummy food, and weird music… heh heh.

Not to forget, Happy Birthday on the 25th! Gonna party like it’s your birthday aye? =)

this year’s love
Posted on Thu, December 18th, 2008 @ 11:50 am

This year’s love had better last
Heaven knows it’s high time
And I’ve been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can’t go on

Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh now
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet

This year’s love had better last
This year’s love had better last

So who’s to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don’t you know this life goes on
And won’t you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet

This year’s love had better last

- - David Gray

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am, and what a blessing 2008 has turned out to be. But on days like this, it’s hard not to remember. Days when you wake up just wanting to go back to dreamland instead of working, and someone sacrifices their sleep to drop you at work… And you know at the end of the day this same person would be there waiting to get you safely back home. It’s the little things, the thoughtful gestures and the effort put in. To think I didn’t do anything to deserve any of it and yet here I am anyway - I’m tired to my very core, I’m swimming in the workload, I want my pillow, I’m cold, I’m dazed, I’m stoning, and ultimately I’m happy. :)

and i found out what my heart is for
Posted on Wed, December 17th, 2008 @ 10:05 am

It’s been a bit of a solemn week. But things like jasmine tea, good conversations, and precious sleep always have a way of cheering me up somewhat. :)

Last night I’m reminded that it’s all about attitude - as long as the mind stays positive, there’s nothing that can bring me down rite?

I’ve made my decision anyway, the signature is inked and the deal is done, and now all I can do is to see it through… for at least the next one year. Let’s not overthink.

I wouldn’t want my working life, or any other aspects of my life for that matter, to be one huge bundle of demotivation and dissatisfaction. There’s always a bright side to everything, isn’t there? *crosses fingers and toes*

This will be a new start for me. :D

P.S. Happy Birthday to EngSeen yesterday, and Happy Birthday to George today!

hold on to your words ’cause talk is cheap
Posted on Thu, December 11th, 2008 @ 2:47 pm

This is an update in the form of numbered items, just coz I feel like it. :P

1. Sickness has come knocking again - I’m down with a mild version of flu and cough. Funnily enough SCG is sick too, all the way in China coz Beijing is really cold right now! Ahahah misery loves company.

2. Even though there’s no holiday for me today since I work in KL and not Selangor *booo!*, I celebrated last night anyway at Coco Banana with the beloved MMU people - LeeChuan, Peeka, Robin, and his girlfriend Irene. I left after 2 beer towers, and the rest were still discussing to order a third one at the time. LoL Alco-heads. Funniest moment has to be the re-telling of LC’s farting stories - they never get old ahahah. :D

3. I only found out about the landslide episode at Bukit Antarabangsa like, 2 days after it happened. Maybe I should read the news more often haha. Anyway it’s good to know that George, the only person I know who’s a BA resident, escaped unharmed from the whole thing. In fact he slept through it all?! Tsk.

4. Still on the landslide topic, I found it really funny when Chris mentioned about a lady in his neighbourhood in Cheras, who got paranoid when she saw cracks at her home and has raised her fears of a landslide too. It could all be genuine concern of course but… tumpang glamor much? Teehee. :D

5. Was talking to Carmen the best friend yesterday, and we both agreed that one of the worst things in the world has to be EMPTY PROMISES. Say what you mean and mean what you say, please!

6. Song of the day (or maybe week) is The Script’s ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’. Been hearing this song on the radio for almost two months now but it keeps getting better with each listening.

Some try to hand me money, they don’t understand
I’m not broke I’m just a broken hearted man…

‘Cause if one day you wake up and find that you’re missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinkin’ maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we’d meet
And you’ll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I’m not moving, I’m not moving…

7. Went on a getaway trip to Kampar last weekend with Chris, Maverick, Chiam and PingPing. What’s there at Kampar you ask? A lovely waterfall, yummy min bao kai (bread and chicken? LoL), and err.. that’s it. :D We created our own fun… Oh the drinking! And the pillow fight! Good stuff.

8. Bolt is possibly in my list of top 3 movies of 2008. It’s filled with adorable characters and witty lines, loved it. Madagascar 2 was awesome too - King Julien raises madness to a whole new level hahaha. I didn’t like Twilight (and I think Robert Pattinson was disappointing as the supposedly charismatic Edward Cullen), but the book is a great read for all you hopeless romantics out there. ;)

9. I’m starting to get the itch to go clubbing again. And when I say clubbing, I really mean dancing. Drinking is secondary. ;) The last time I partied was at the launch of Supperclub about 3 weeks ago. Thanks Dan for the invite, it was good seeing you again after so long. :) The place was all right.. the music could be vastly improved perhaps? Hehe. Still it was a fun night with lotsa fun people.

10. Saving the best for last… Happy 26th Birthday to IvanKym aka Budak Mengada. Whee. =)

something about goodbyes
Posted on Thu, December 11th, 2008 @ 9:06 am

I don’t think I’ve ever been good with saying goodbye.

There’s always that last shred of attachment that you can’t tear away from. The half-smile that curves up on one corner but droops down on the other. And the sudden vacant space that you feel compelled to fill up before it consumes you.

This was how it was when the goodbye email came in.

No more hour-long breakfasts. No more ranting conversations about annoying people, work, the traffic, the weather, and more annoying people. No more emo sessions of ciggies and ice cream. No more endless thread of nonsensical emails just to pass the time till 5.45PM comes around.

It’s been a whirlwind one year, and I feel we’ve both learned a lot from each other - both the good and the bad. ;)

Ultimately this year I discovered that when things don’t work out between two people relationship-wise, they’re still able to carry on an adequate friendship. More than adequate, it’s actually turning out to be a pretty good friendship, in fact.

I don’t think I’ve ever been good with saying goodbye. But it makes it easier when I know the goodbye isn’t forever…

I’ll see you when I see you, okay? :)

jingle all the way
Posted on Wed, December 3rd, 2008 @ 2:47 am

It’s past 2AM and I’m still wide awake! I dunno, maybe I’m still on a high from the successful shopping trip earlier tonight. Good job to both me and SCG my shopping sidekick. :D

It was 4 hours well spent at Sunway Pyramid. My shopping list was quite short and simple and I did get everything that I wanted, yayy. SCG had the heavier shopping task - getting a present for his team leader at work for a Christmas gift exchange (we ended up at Skin Food for this), picking Christmas presents for his girlfriend (Memory Lane), buying winter accessories for his upcoming trip to Beijing (Topman), and purchasing miscellanous stuff like 20 cans of Ayam brand tuna spread (Giant) and cookies and chocolates (Famous Amos). LoL umm yeahh.

We even managed to take a look at overpriced stainless steel jewelry (Parkson) and some awesome looking shoes (Converse and Adidas). And let’s not forget dinner (KFC!!).

My gosh. You will not believe how long I’ve not had KFC. I have like virtually zero friends who are into KFC, most of them would rather eat at McDonald’s. ;( Also my mom doesn’t let me have KFC as she’s convinced that KFC food causes cancer. Nevertheless the cravings overran my health conscience today. :D The meal was so good. No wait, it was more than good. It was almost an aphrodisiac, like a forbidden fruit that you finally get to savor after eyeing it for the longest time. Mmmmm hahaha. :)

Yummy cancer-causing chicken.
And in the middle of everything, SCG had to start with his “if you knew how they make the mashed potatoes, you wouldn’t wanna ever eat it again…” which I happily ignored and went on to finish my potatoes in record time.. haha.

Oh there were so many cute and lovely Christmas items on sale at Memory Lane. SCG and I were “ooh”-ing and “ahh”-ing, and the next thing you know, we were doing an impromptu gift exchange - he got me a snow angel that glows with changing color lights, and an adorable li’l penguin Ty beanie. Nice! Of course, technically it was me who chose the gifts myself, but heyy at least there’s no chance of me disliking what I receive. ;) In return, I bought SCG a funky pig block calendar. So wow, this marks the second year that we’ve exchanged gifts for Christmas. Hard to believe that another year has gone by just like that, crazy isn’t it?!

Oooooh…

Aaaaah…

Must add that the Christmas decorations in Pyramid are really pretty - red and gold. I’m definitely caught up in the Christmas mood already, are you? :)
