choking on your alibis

You may say that you’re against violence. And that Chris Brown should go to jail for what he did.

But it’s funny isn’t it, when you yourself go around assaulting people - physically and emotionally!

Please stop it. You’re hurting a very good friend of mine and destroying every one last pleasant memory you both ever had. Is it worth it?!

I wouldn’t even bother blogging about this, but your words just caught me at a really bad, ANGRY time. Honestly I wonder what the world is coming to sometimes. It’s effing ridiculous.

And on a similar angry note - I HATE being forced to do something I don’t want to. Grr. *stomps off*

Here’s to a Happy 25th Birthday
to Darren Lam aka Babi Lam :)

Can’t believe how the years are just flying by… I still remember wishing him happy birthday in class back when we were 13, and now look where we are - err still hurling insults at each other! :P

My text message: Happy birthday babi :)
His reply: Thanks…24yr old babi…haha…. :)
My reply: Omg. It’s better than being a 25 year old babi!

[edit]

Hehe look what I found!
This was me and Darren in our classroom when we were *omg* seventeen.
That’s 8 years back…!
The both of us I look really funny yeah? Ahahah :P

so little time so much to do
Posted on Thu, February 19th, 2009 @ 5:42 pm

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a review on.. anything, really. So here we go.

Movies
- The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
It’s about life, it’s about love, it’s about miracles, it’s also possibly about swooning at Brad Pitt heh heh… and it’s 3 hours long. I’d recommend that you make a trip to the bathroom before entering the theatre. :P Overall I’m glad I watched this movie, the only thing I felt lacking were strong characters to really draw the audience in. Look out for the man who got struck by lightning seven times.. hilarious.

- Look For A Star (Chinese)
It’s a typical Hong Kong romantic flick with the necessary funny moments. I suppose the romance between Andy Lau and Shu Qi was the main story, but it was Denise Ho’s plotline that got me stunned, laughing, hopeful, sad, and then cheering silently at the ending.

Eateries
- Sushi Zanmai
I’ve been a patron about three times, and I have to say that everything there is so YUM. There’s so many interesting sushi and other ala carte menu items to try. :D More visits to come I’m sure.

- Pasta Zanmai
Being a huge pasta fan, I have to say this place serves pretty good stuff. The cream sauce pasta with chicken and Japanese mushrooms I had was great, and I think Chris and Maverick enjoyed their unagi pasta too. ;) Also you get your own individual glass pitcher to finish up when you order the green tea, nice!

did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Posted on Thu, February 19th, 2009 @ 10:09 am

Yesterday was an absolute day of talking

Observe.

I met up with Carmen the bestie at 6.45PM at SS15’s Old Town, and the chattering started soon enough. My dinner was left untouched for a good 10 minutes after it arrived, just coz I was too busy talking to eat.

Then we switched locations to Old Taste which has better drinks (read: jasmine tea) at 8.30PM, and we were joined by Chuah aka Jin Yan (budak keji :D). As usual, there were tons of familiar people there. Last night we saw high school senior Philip Chua, classmates Phillip Chan and Beatrice, also Shu Mei’s boyfriend (can’t recall his name), and even Carmen’s younger brother. Phew. As you can see, Subang is sorely lacking in variety when it comes to places to hang out… Haha.

You can’t imagine the topics of conversation we had at our table. Between the 3 of us, we talked about the book Veronika Decides To Die; we discussed how it’s possible that most people sent to the insane asylum themselves do not think that they’re crazy, but they’re at the asylum because other people tell them they’re not quite sane; we even pondered briefly on the meaning of life.

I’m glad we each shared what we did, especially Jin Yan. Gosh, after yakking away the entire night, he mentioned nonchalantly, “You know, I’m the kind who don’t talk much.” It was a totally LoL moment.

We finally left at 11PM, and even so I received text messages from both of them when I reached home, sorta to recap the night’s conversations. Ahahah. ‘Course once I was home, it was then time to chit chat on the phone with Chris. :) One can never get enough of talking eh!

All ritey, have a good Thursday folks… And you should know that you should be working instead of reading blogs. ;) Teehee.

it’s been too long, it’s been too strong

Happy happy joy joy song of the moment. Go listen NOW! :)

Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other

You can, think you can get free
You think you won’t need me
That you’re gonna get you somethin’ better
But you know that we’re in this forever
And you can, think you can walk out
Even with your doubts
But you know that we’re in this together
You can try to push me from you
Nothing you do will keep us apart

Cause it’s too late, there’s no escape
Might as well face it, baby we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other
Ain’t nothin you can do about it
It’s been too long, it’s been too strong
Cause we belong here
Baby, we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other
Stuck in love with each other
(stuck in love with each other)

Yeah
Now I can say that I would not care
If you were not there
Tell myself that I’ll be fine without ya
but I would die if I was not around ya
and I can try to convince you
I don’t need to be with you
But my only thoughts are thoughts about ya
What can I do, love is like glue
There’s no way to
Tear us apart

Cause it’s too late (too late, too late)
There’s no escape, might as well face it
Baby we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other (with each other)
ain’t nothin I can do about it
It’s been too long, it’s been too strong
Yes, we belong here
Baby we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other (stuck with each other)
stuck in love with each other
(stuck in love with each other)

There’s nothing I’d rather do
Than to sit with you forever
Can’t think of nothin better
Than to be stuck with you

Cause it’s too late, there’s no escape
Might as well face it,
baby we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other
Ain’t nothin we can do about it
Oh yeah

Cause it’s too late, there’s no escape
Might as well face it,
baby we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other
Ain’t nothin I can do about it
It’s been too long, it’s been too strong
Yes, we belong here
baby, we’re stuck with each other
Stuck with each other
Stuck in love with each other
(stuck in love with each other)

Ain’t nothin gonna stop me and you ey
Cause you know we just stuck like glue ey

Ain’t nothin we can do
We stuck in love with each other

the cheese stands alone
Posted on Mon, February 16th, 2009 @ 11:07 am

This is one of those obligatory update posts, just to let you know that I’m still around and all. Anddd I have no pictures to show just yet. What can I say? It’s been a dry month for photos and even the notorious camwhores are seemingly taking a break. :o

The cheese stands alone is today’s random phrase of the day. If you think about it (like really hard), it can be the answer to everything. Haha umm yeahh, really.

Oh I got roses for Valentine’s Day. Thank you. :)

Pepper Lunch for lunch later - oh yayy. We’re celebrating my colleague Angee’s birthday, it’s gonna be tons of fun. This is the girl who keeps me sane in the office, I swear! Hehe. Cheers to wonderful workmates.

P.S. If you read Paul Tan, you’ll probably know of Theophilus Chin and his digital renderings of automobiles that are showcased there from time to time. Well guess what, he has his own site now! :D

drench yourself in words unspoken
Posted on Thu, February 5th, 2009 @ 3:16 pm

So as of late I’ve been lacking inspiration to write anything at all. Blank. Hollow. White space. Nothingness.

Because of this, I find myself taking longer glances than usual at other blogs, in search of a little sparkle and shine that will hopefully lead to my rediscovering the joy that words could, and should bring.

Loobylu is one of my occasional stops on the blogging scene. Honestly now, I’ve been a visitor since I was like, seventeen? (That was many many moons ago, sigh *momentarily feels emo about getting old*) It’s interesting to follow a life which is so removed from my own – suburban living in Melbourne, having kids running around the house, regularly trying out newfound recipes, writing a book…!

Sometimes I think, wow I’d like to have that kind of life. Okay maybe not the having kids part (not at 25 please, gosh no!), and my eating skills will probably always be superior to my culinary ones… Plus, I think my heart is embedded in the soils of Malaysia, unless I can find better wantan noodles in Australia or something. :P

But oh, writing a book – that is a passion that I can relate to. Or used to anyway.

Buried somewhere in the house are a handful of school notebooks filled with mostly unfinished stories, leftovers from my childhood dream of becoming an author. Actually come to think of it, I did manage to finish a couple of those teenybopper stories, thanks to long stretches of school holidays back then.

Yes I was twelve and I had an untainted dream to write for a living. Fancy that. ;)

An ex-boyfriend from our university times told me the other day that he always thought I would end up pursuing a career in journalism or something along those lines. The jaded grown-up in me had to laugh at that – I can’t remember the last time I even wrote something substantial and publish-worthy, and blog entries definitely do not count. :P

I suppose I’m just the sort who feels that in order to write – wholeheartedly – you have to do so with some amount of belief and hope. Whether it’s in ice cream, the new President of the United States, unicorns, weather forecasts, or even Michael Jackson (erm maybe not)… Whatever it is, as long as the conviction is there, you know?

And sadly right now, I don’t think I have that.

But just as seasons come and go, I believe the feeling will find me again eventually, and that’s something worth betting my hopes on.

i get the strangest feeling that you’re gone
Posted on Tue, February 3rd, 2009 @ 10:57 pm

Hello folks. Got nothing much to say… My Chinese New Year break was, shall I say interesting? Half-disillusioning and half-fulfilling. And it felt much too short.

Oh please say hi to Domokun. He doesn’t bite… much. :D

Rainy days and endearing monsters.
