I can’t believe I still remember my ICQ number, but yeah there you go. :P Some things just stick in your memory for the longest time eh… But don’t bother adding me, I haven’t had the program installed in years. Hehe.

On a day like today, I truly feel that it’s not me who’s leading a life. Rather I’m being led by life… on a leash. Pfft.

I dunno. I’ve just been tired, tired, and more tired. The month of May has in fact been a bundle of exhaustion. I don’t even know where all my energy went to.

I wonder if there’s actually people out there who get what I mean? It’s not the kind of tiredness that can be cured simply after a night of sleep.

Imagine waking up and feeling like you haven’t even started sleeping yet. And then by mid day at work, you’re about as alive as a person who just got run over by a steamroller. But honestly the evenings are the hardest to get past - head’s buzzing from work, eyes are aching and struggling to stay open, and your limbs have suddenly become useless. Actually, you feel entirely useless, period. You literally just want to curl up and die, just to put an end to the misery.

Last Saturday’s 3 rounds of bowling got my body aching for a good few days, boohoo. But oh Saturday was also the night we had THAT steamboat buffet in Serdang. It’s the one with little grilling pans circling the hot pot, so you can get a mini bbq party going. The meat and seafood selection doesn’t disappoint. ;)

On to more fun stuff. Tuesday was Carmen’s birthday. A couple of us were at Republic for drinks - I’m in love with their Mojito. Yumm. It’s got just the right blend of minty lime freshness to go with the alcohol. I keep forgetting though, that their tables are too big to carry out a cozy conversation within the group.

Phuture @ Zouk this Saturday, anyone? It’ll be part II of Carmen’s birthday. :D

Umm so I’ll be dipping a tentative toe into the depths of Lookbook.Nu… Hope it goes well. *shy* Ahahah.

It’s too early to be up on a Saturday morning, much less to be blogging about anything substantial.

Till the next post… Ta! I’m off to play bowling - it’s for work, don’t ask. God help me and everyone else on my team. ;) LoL

standing in the light of your halo

Since last night I’ve been feeling a curious mix of post-trip fatigue and restlessness of the mind. One part of me is dying to curl up in a blanket and be overtaken by slumber. Yet there’s another chamber of the brain that keeps racing with pictures, daydreams and ideas.

It’s funny how work takes up so much of my time but doesn’t fill up my wallet as much. Again and again it strikes me just how precious time is - if I were rich I’d buy more of it for sure. :P

I haven’t made a list in a while on this blog, so let’s have one today yeah? Yeah!

The Things-To-Do-If-I-Had-More-Time List

1. Sleep. I’m the kind who would sleep 10 hours a day if possible!

2. Rediscover the joys of snapping photos. As I’ve said on Twitter, I really would want to take a deeper interest on this, especially now that I’ve been entrusted with a Canon G7. ;)

3. Sit at the corner of cozy cafes accompanied by laptop and coffee/tea. Somehow this kind of setting best invites creativity for me. Besides I’ve been missing quiet moments by myself, sometimes I feel like asking, “Hello Isobel, how have you been?”

4. Catch up with friends. There are more than a handful of faces that I’ve barely seen this year - I keep meaning to make that call really…

5. Explore the realms of fashion. Inspirational sources such as Lookbook provide the lemons, I’m just waiting for the time to err, make some lemonade. :P

6. Visit the zoo. I want to make faces at the monkeys and get scared/amazed by the snake displays.

7. Learn to cook risotto pasta. Coz it sounds yummy. :)

’cause i see sunset in your eyes

So the Perhentian trip came and went. How would I describe those 4 days? One word - indescribable. Maybe when the pictures are up they’ll tell a better story. Hmm…

KFC was the first thing I wanted the moment we got back to KL yesterday evening, and wish was fulfilled. :) This was followed by satisfying sips of honeydew bubble tea and a favorable viewing of Angels & Demons.

I felt the movie A&D was all that The Da Vinci Code was not - cinematic, suspenseful, and character-driven. Plus doesn’t it make you want to visit Italy? I know it did for me.

To those who celebrate it, happy Monday blues guys! :P

pulau ketam is not all about crabs
Posted on Wed, May 13th, 2009 @ 11:48 am

This was it - the image that prompted tears to my eyes. =/ As I read about this dog, one of the countless other Pulau Ketam pooches sent to an island to die an inevitable sad death, it just got more and more heartbreaking…

Rescued Chantek (named by YB Edward Lee) is weeping silently on a back seat. She of course is not aware she is on the way to a better life and won’t be put down. She was so terrified and was almost frozen when rescued. Can you blame her and the other thrown-away dogs for fearing and not trusting humans ever again?

The thing that got to me was, the fact that dogs have always been loyal companions who stood by you, me, and so many fellow dog lovers all around. I think of my toy poodle at home, and it amazes me…

Dogs, they’re ever devoted and brimming with unconditional love, you’re able to win their hearts with the slightest gesture. And when you’re in pain, they share it with you. It’s just the way they are. Such creatures! They may not be human but they definitely have similar emotional capacity.

So yeahh. We can all do our part in helping out our furry friends, you know you’ll have their eternal gratitude, even after they’ve moved on to doggie heaven. So will you? :)

you ain’t never gonna burn my heart out
Posted on Mon, May 11th, 2009 @ 4:27 pm

The weekend of May 9th and 10th:

[♣] 1 Ikea bedside lamp*
[♣] 1 pair of sunglasses from Topshop
[♣] 1 farmer-style (okay I mean checkered) red dress from Sg Wang
[♣] 1 bull terrier soft toy named Li’l Bow Wow*
[♣] 4 hours spent doing charity for Wesak Day in Brickfields

* Partly/fully sponsored by the bf, thanks!

Pretty good for two days, except I had trouble sleeping and was visited by numerous disturbing dreams, so my sleep deficit probably increased a few folds over. Oh well. You can’t have everything.

Guess what made got me blinking back tears from my eyes right before lunch today? And I’m not even ashamed to admit it.. It’s totally justified I think. :P I’ll talk about it more in the next entry, watch out for it!

So here we are, some photographic moments during my birthday this year. Never thought I’d get an entire surprise party planned just for me… thank you.. so much. =)

Other birthday joys: yummy Mexican dinner with family at Las Carretas, delightful lunch with colleagues at Sushi Zanmai, and blissful dinner with high school girlies at Canton-i. Thanks for the good times and the love. <3
