hey show some love, you ain’t so toughPosted on Wed, September 30th, 2009 @ 5:39 pm
Yesterday was a queer day.
It began on my Tuesday morning when I parked my car at the open air parking lot next to the office, same old routine. The thing was though, there were 3 monkeys perched on the roof of the car next to mine. (It’s common to see monkeys around the carpark coz of the golf course nearby with its healthy spread of trees everywhere)

The monkeys were really close and we ended up in a staring game with one another for a good few minutes.
I couldn’t decide who was more afraid of the other. LoL
So I was waiting for them to hop off to some other car (but not mine please!). And they were waiting for me to get out of my car. But you know I was waiting for them to - err yeah, you get the flow.
Finally I couldn’t take it. I was gonna be late for work, so I took a deep breath, opened my door boldly, paused to see if the monkeys would let out a screech and jump straight at me but they didn’t pheww, and took quick steps without looking back until I reached the entrance to my office.
Such an early hour for monkey business. Tsk.
And then for lunch, I got a free piece of chicken drumstick.
It was from a frequented mamak stall. Just coz I asked (jokingly). YAYY :D

happy birthday scg ‘09Posted on Wed, September 30th, 2009 @ 3:13 pm
Happy Birthday to SCG!
All rite, so this is already one week late. But as my favorite saying goes, better late than never :P
Besides, the poor guy is recovering from a couple of pretty severe surgeries right now. So here’s to hoping he cheers up and gets better real quick!
Y’know quite a number of people have asked me, “Who is this SCG? And why is he named so?” Well I wrote the story back in January ‘08, but if you’re too lazy to read the summary of it is - we were in the same 1-year finincial course, my friend Sara called him cute, and when I bumped into him for the first time at the LRT station after class, he was registered on my mind as Sara’s Cute Guy.
Til today the nickname sticks haha. But on normal days he goes by Gallen Lee. Ahh, now you know.
Been through good times with this dude, and some shit ones too. And I really do mean it literally - one time he got me diarrhea pills when I had a bad case of food poisoning. LoL Umm yeah.
Moving on.. I have to say I never anticipated that we’d be such good friends at this point. There was that rough patch where I was sure I didn’t want to speak to him ever again, but circumstances came up and the discommunication only lasted a mere 4 days. Cold war treatment fail -_-”
There’s so much I’ve learned from him, mostly not good stuff though. I only know how to drive recklessly and cut queue on the road coz of SCG, kays! :P
Hmm but on the flip side, I guess I learned to plan my finances better, I dare to dream bigger, I found the perfect remedy for an oncoming flu in fresh orange juice minus the sugar and ice, etc etc. So many things really..
And above all else, I discovered that people do change. :)
So yeahh. Happy 22nd September to SCG!

painted faces fill the places i can’t reachPosted on Wed, September 23rd, 2009 @ 2:38 pm
Why does it feel like I’m even more exhausted after the 4-day holiday than before?
It’s probably because I’ve learned that weddings can be very tiring, even when you’re not the one getting married!
What happened was I went to bed at 1.30AM after finishing up some last minute stuff for the bride, and woke up at the crack of dawn (6.30AM, that is :P) on a Sunday… We had daytime ceremonies and rituals to either help carry out or to stand at a corner and observe. After that there was rehearsal at the hotel where the wedding dinner was to be held at. You should know that running around in heels isn’t funny. :P So glad when the dinner wrapped up and I was relieved of my bridesmaid duties.. woots.
My Monday was a little more relaxing - caught two Gerard Butler movies in one day, and I don’t even like the guy much. Hehe.
First up, ‘The Ugly Truth’. It was obscenely crude, hilarious at some parts, insightful for a couple of seconds here and there, and then the last half hour was just rubbish. Haha oh boy. *slaps self*
And then there was ‘Gamer’. I dunno, the whole thing made me feel like I was watching a 1.5-hour game that was a mixture of Second Life and Counter Strike. I left the cinema unfazed, unprovoked and just pretty much unaffected -_-”
Yesterday, Tuesday, was the BEST. I finally made a trip to the national zoo. The giraffes were so cute and looked really huggable, especially the baby one. Look out for zoo pictures on here real soon :D
And in a blink of an eye, it’s Wednesday and it’s back to the daily grind that is work. Arghh. Hope everyone had a great weekend break!

buy me a star on the boulevardPosted on Tue, September 15th, 2009 @ 11:08 pm
So hands up those browsers who aren’t able to see the Twitter updates on my right sidebar there!
I know I’m one of them… *raises hand with a sigh*
It’s funny though. I’m only experiencing this while I’m using Firefox. On IE, it loads oh so beautifully -_-”

Now you see it (on IE)

Now you don’t (on FF)
Talk about weirdness, I can’t figure it out. I’ve also been told that the Twitter widget doesn’t load in Chrome. Any web gurus out there who might care to provide some enlightenment please? ;)
Dum de dum. Been up to my nose with a lot of stuff lately - work, fun, emo moments, and everything in between. For better or worse, life’s keeping me busy. Whew.
This month alone I’ll be attending 2 weddings. So exciting, especially since I’ll get to be a chi mui (the Chinese equivalent of a bridesmaid I guess?) for the one taking place this weekend. It’s my first time and I’m absolutely filled with curiosity. :)
The following weekend will be the wedding celebration of beloved friends, Yee Kuan and Esther. Congratulations! Can’t wait for the madness in Nilai. Garick’s gonna be in charge of the liquor supply - are you afraid? Because I am.. LoL It’s bound to be a very alcoholic night, but it’s a special occasion so yeahh. Bring it on!
Still not done yet, coz next month I have another pair of dear friends who will be making their marriage official at the Registrar of Marriages. Yay, YongChia and Hong :D So much happiness going around.
And finally, must not forget my trips for the remainder of 2009 - Japan in November and Hong Kong in December. Woohooooo times infinity. I so need to shop for cold weather clothings. I want ear muffs! They look really cute to wear, even if they’re not essential, don’t you think? Teehee.
So yeahh, lotsa stuff going on. In the midst of all this, I try to find crevices of sanity and tranquility wherever possible… I dunno, sometimes the world moves way too fast and I just need to know that I’m still rooted somewhere safe - that I’ll always have a familiar path to return to. :)

10:55 PM Sep 12th from mobile web
So yeahh, the show ended up a little more fiery than anticipated ;) Sound problems persisted throughout the night as well - the guitarist of Manhand had a mic malfunction and he wasn’t able to sing til the very last chorus of his song. :P
Still, kudos to the organizers for managing to pull through every setback. The music festival began at 7PM and ended with a bang at approximately 2AM.
