the best soy latte that you ever had, and me

If you’re wondering about the title of today’s post, my music mood for today are songs by the band, Train.

I remember saying some years back, that Train is really good at coming out with songs about girls and all their intricacies. Just read the lyrics to Meet Virginia and Drops Of Jupiter ;)

Anyways I know more than one of you are waiting for the pictures from the Hong Kong trip in December… Unfortunately I really have nothing to work with until the photos get uploaded by the photographer/camera owner - which obviously isn’t me :P

In short, HK was all about shopping. Food was all right but my tastebuds remain a loyal fan of Malaysian cuisine hehe.

Oh, I have to mention this. See, I had my phone on roaming but I didn’t exactly expect any calls to come in during those 11 days out of the country as most if not all of the usual people have been notified of my being away.

But yeah, I did receive numerous phone calls. And, them being international calls, of course the caller’s name was not shown. I had no chance to screen my calls - and so, I pick up.

“Hello?”
“Hi, happy new year!”
“Happy new year… Umm who is this?”
“You don’t know who I am? Wait, is this Isobel’s number?”
“Y-e-sss..”
“This is Gallen la.”
“Oh! Hey you do know I’m still in Hong Kong right?”
(voice suddenly got a whole lot louder) “… I thought you were back already?! OMG this is costing us both a bomb, hang up NOWWWWW!”

It was a good LoL moment, though it wasn’t very funny when I checked my phone bill for the month. I was RM30 away from hitting my monthly credit limit (which by itself is honestly a crazy amount that seemed impossible to reach.. till now). This translated to about 92% of credit usage versus my usual.. *counts*.. 14% (!). Madness.

So yeah that aside, do stay tuned for the HK photos.. they’ll be up here one fine day, I’m sure.

Have a good weekend peeps, and happy Federal Territory Day next Monday to those of us working in KL ;) Yayy.

Sorry I spoke too soon - it would seem that 2010 is bent on blazing the destructive trail that 2009 left behind.

I can’t decide if it’s hatred or sadness.

At the torching of the churches and the “religious”-based (is it really an issue of faith, or just plain politics?) mayhem that decorates news titles, blog posts, and tweets like dirty confetti.

At the fact that in a matter of days that had gone by, I hear of one friend’s mom’s ongoing battle with cancer, another friend whose dad passed away suddenly, and finally a colleague who had her mom hospitalized for reasons yet unknown. These are all good people, but of course life never fails to remind us that bad stuff can happen even to the most golden-hearted kind..

On a smaller scale, I have been plagued by disturbing and difficult dreams for the past two nights. I wake up not daring to shut my eyes back. No wonder I’ve been evading my sleeping time lately. Slumber offers no escape anyways, so what’s the point?

Happy Monday anyone?

Way too many people are glad to see the end of the horrid year that was 2009…

And I’m definitely with you guys. The 12 months of mediocrity, untimely and tragic deaths (including the personal loss of an uncle from my dad’s side), the tide of emotions between feeling overwhelmed and underwhelmed, and too many tears gone to waste. I don’t see anything I’m gonna miss here, do you?

So I suppose it’s safe to say, good riddance 2009 and hello 2010!

Happy new year, and happy new you :D

cheers
Cheers!
