dear pacific day, won’t you take me awayMarch 10th, 2010 @ 11:05 pm
I found this sitting in my pile of drafts. This was written sometime after the Chinese New Year holidays, but never got posted up coz I was waiting for myself to be hardworking enough to transfer some phone pictures to my laptop for this entry… which is, umm, now.. a couple of weeks later. LoL
It’s okay though, you know what they say - better late than never :D Enjoy this backdated post, and don’t mind too much about the noticable level of emo-ness, I’ve been feeling much better since. Wheeee!

I’ve been quite spoilt by the Chinese New Year week-long break. My brain’s been resting for so long, it’s almost impossible to kickstart it back into gear again now that work has resumed and I have to make myself somewhat useful.
The first portion of CNY was spent, as usual, back in Kuantan where my dad’s dad and some relatives are. The li’l cousins aren’t so li’l anymore - it’s astonishing how fast they grow when you only see them on a yearly basis.
The youngest of the lot, Ken, still greets me with a huge grin and sits me down at the table to play games with him, but I dunno if that will remain the case when next year comes around. And so this CNY, I really didn’t mind these simple moments of playfulness, because one day they will be replaced by shy formal waves of hello and curt conversations on studies and work, as how it is with the older cousins right now *sigh*
Dad was in a splurging mood, hence our family found themselves lodging at the Hyatt Hotel in Kuantan this year. The place is amazing in a typical laid back beachfront resort kind of way. The hotel’s open air structure meant we were constantly teased by the ocean breeze as we walked through the lobby and the corridors, and my gosh they had a snack bar planted at one edge of the pool! If you ever felt like a club sandwich or a glass of juice in the middle of your swim, you would just paddle towards the stools and take a seat at the counter as you wait for your order to arrive. Such fun :D
Here are some snapshots taken from the room balcony - hence the weird angle. Darn all those palm trees blocking my view! ;)

Okay so you’ll have to make do with pictures taken with my E71’s crappy phone camera, until I decide to get a proper digicam… whenever that will be. Hehe. But yeahh the Hyatt was really nice! :)
Funny how I’m typing away so much but in actual fact, I haven’t been the most talkative person in real life lately… I mean, I know I’m almost always moody - hur hur - but usually I’d still have lots to say about things that brought my mood down. Now? It’s just silence and a pair of solemnly tight lips. It doesn’t sound like much, but it honestly surprised me how I didn’t even send out any CNY text greeting this year. In the past I would at the very least reply cheerfully to those who SMSed me with well wishes, but with my newly-bred antisocial tendency, I hadn’t even done so this time around *smacks self*
I wonder if it’s anything to do with the whole growing older deal - do people just care less and less as they progress in life? Are we all constantly consumed by “more important things to bother and worry about”, so much so that human relations take a backseat indefinitely? Or at least until we have a bit more time to take interest in the life of others - and that will probably be on the day we’re at our deathbed and we start thinking of who will be there at the funeral. Yeahh.
All right, enough with the heavy thoughts. At a time like this, there’s really only one thing you can do - Suit Up and watch a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother! See ya at the next blog entry.. toodles.
