I’m being increasingly convinced that, apart from your parents, only your truly good friends would know just what you need without you having to voice it out.

I thought tonight’s cure would involve alcohol and cigarettes.

However, it turns out that the essential ingredients were more along the lines of yummy bak kut teh from THE famous shop in Kepong called Ka Ka (like finally, after craving it for over a year now!).

And not forgetting good company in the form of a caring friend who kept asking what I wanted to do next. The feeling that the night was all mine, it was so foreign that I didn’t quite know how to take it all in. So I decided it was time to head home at 2.30AM.

This week hasn’t been the easiest to go through, but I guess I’ll just have to deal with it one problem at a time without forgetting to smile every once in awhile. And well, knowing that I’m blessed with this thing called Friendship.. it helps in many wondrous ways.

such a crazy thing, like snow falling in spring
Posted on Mon, April 5th, 2010 @ 10:34 am

It’s Monday *booo!* but I’m feeling pretty all right… I’m sure the wantan noodles breakfast at Jalan Imbi with the boyfriend before work helped somewhat ;)

I’ve been so in the mood for designer bags for the past few days.. So tempting. I’d love to get one for Mummy too coz she’s into handbags just like me but I know she’d never make such an extravagant purchase herself. I think she’d really like a well-made tote or hobo to carry around since she’s always out and about every day :)

Ah but reality crashes in when I remember how much money I make a month, ahahah. Oh well. It’s still nice to daydream for now..

Still on the topic of bags - don’t you just love these illustrations? A guy by the name of Jameson Simpson did artworks of 50 iconic handbags which you can drool over here, but the below are my favorites :D

just another date, just another number
Posted on Wed, March 31st, 2010 @ 2:57 pm

“So it’s next week right?”

I laughed a little. “Next week? No I don’t think so..”

“Isn’t it on the 4th? Or was it the 14th…”

“… You can check Facebook if you like.”

“Well I remember it has a ‘4′ in it.”

“Maybe it’s the 34th then.”

“Don’t be sarcastic.”

At that, I smiled without smiling and let the subject slide.

After all, it was just another date, to mark just another number.

an unlikely remedy
Posted on Tue, March 30th, 2010 @ 9:28 pm

So I took the day off yesterday… not exactly something I wanted, but I was just doing my part of the leave clearance exercise that the company has imposed on us.

I woke up at 10 AM - that’s 4 hours later than my normal working Mondays, woww - but instead of feeling all refreshed and stuff, I greeted the morning with bleary eyes, head throbbing with fatigue and a nose that just wouldn’t quit sneezing, and then began leaking too as the day went on.

It got me thinking, oh great, I’m falling sick?!

I definitely wasn’t feeling well and spent most of the time lying down to rest, which didn’t seem to help much at all… By the time Tuesday morning (that’s today) came around, I was contemplating on calling in sick.

Still, I decided I should just toughen up and drag myself to work.. since I didn’t have a temperature and I wasn’t feeling quite like roadkill yet.

The first hour in my office wasn’t the easiest to go through. But I discovered that once I got into the groove of things that needed to be done at work, the sick symptoms slowly wore off one by one.

Goodbye lethargy. Goodbye dripping nose and exploding sneezes. Goodbye aching head.

Anddd just like that, I was cured. Somewhat. Well at least 90%.

So who woulda thunk - the remedy to illnesses can be found in the most unlikely places. Or maybe I was merely suffering from working withdrawal..

.. Well okay probably not :P

the sunnier side of things
Posted on Tue, March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:08 pm

About a month ago, I found myself on a day-long road trip to good ol’ sunny Melaka. My bestie from high school, Carmen was going to visit a friend from uni at her hometown of Tampin (that’s in Negeri Sembilan - yeahh I didn’t know either :P) for Chinese New Year, and then proceed to Melaka after that with some of her other uni mates. Carmen asked me and another friend, Chuah aka Jin Kai Lan to come along, and we said “Okay!”

First stop - Elaine’s place in Tampin. Her house mansion is so huge, it’s unbelievable. Her family’s even got coconut trees growing at their backyard!

JKL, Carmie and myself with our freshly plucked coconuts’ juice.. yummy

Elaine and Carmie… Elaine was a wonderful host, thanks for having us :)

Me and my favorite people :D This was at Jonker Street, Melaka after a filling lunch of chicken rice balls

Okie please try to ignore the childish display by my friend on the right side of the picture and instead concentrate on.. the curry noodles and cendol at the stall NEXT to the famous Jonker 88 establishment.. just coz we couldn’t be bothered to queue up for Jonker 88 with the rest of the world under the sweltering hot sun :P

melaka2010_5
Our happy gang for the day at Nadeje, an eatery spot well-known for their crepe layer cakes.. It took us 2 hours to locate this shop, no kidding!

We had satay celup for dinner later on, but at that point we were too hungry and exhausted to even get the camera out, so no pictures of that.

The night ended on a dramatic note when we missed a turning to get onto the highway, after dropping Elaine back at Tampin. We endured poorly-lit village roads and minimal signboards for about half an hour before the GPS led us to the next entry point for the highway. Pheww.

Let’s do it again soon, guys? Teehee ;)

dear pacific day, won’t you take me away
Posted on Wed, March 10th, 2010 @ 11:05 pm

I found this sitting in my pile of drafts. This was written sometime after the Chinese New Year holidays, but never got posted up coz I was waiting for myself to be hardworking enough to transfer some phone pictures to my laptop for this entry… which is, umm, now.. a couple of weeks later. LoL

It’s okay though, you know what they say - better late than never :D Enjoy this backdated post, and don’t mind too much about the noticable level of emo-ness, I’ve been feeling much better since. Wheeee!

- - - -

I’ve been quite spoilt by the Chinese New Year week-long break. My brain’s been resting for so long, it’s almost impossible to kickstart it back into gear again now that work has resumed and I have to make myself somewhat useful.

The first portion of CNY was spent, as usual, back in Kuantan where my dad’s dad and some relatives are. The li’l cousins aren’t so li’l anymore - it’s astonishing how fast they grow when you only see them on a yearly basis.

The youngest of the lot, Ken, still greets me with a huge grin and sits me down at the table to play games with him, but I dunno if that will remain the case when next year comes around. And so this CNY, I really didn’t mind these simple moments of playfulness, because one day they will be replaced by shy formal waves of hello and curt conversations on studies and work, as how it is with the older cousins right now *sigh*

Dad was in a splurging mood, hence our family found themselves lodging at the Hyatt Hotel in Kuantan this year. The place is amazing in a typical laid back beachfront resort kind of way. The hotel’s open air structure meant we were constantly teased by the ocean breeze as we walked through the lobby and the corridors, and my gosh they had a snack bar planted at one edge of the pool! If you ever felt like a club sandwich or a glass of juice in the middle of your swim, you would just paddle towards the stools and take a seat at the counter as you wait for your order to arrive. Such fun :D

Here are some snapshots taken from the room balcony - hence the weird angle. Darn all those palm trees blocking my view! ;)

Okay so you’ll have to make do with pictures taken with my E71’s crappy phone camera, until I decide to get a proper digicam… whenever that will be. Hehe. But yeahh the Hyatt was really nice! :)

Funny how I’m typing away so much but in actual fact, I haven’t been the most talkative person in real life lately… I mean, I know I’m almost always moody - hur hur - but usually I’d still have lots to say about things that brought my mood down. Now? It’s just silence and a pair of solemnly tight lips. It doesn’t sound like much, but it honestly surprised me how I didn’t even send out any CNY text greeting this year. In the past I would at the very least reply cheerfully to those who SMSed me with well wishes, but with my newly-bred antisocial tendency, I hadn’t even done so this time around *smacks self*

I wonder if it’s anything to do with the whole growing older deal - do people just care less and less as they progress in life? Are we all constantly consumed by “more important things to bother and worry about”, so much so that human relations take a backseat indefinitely? Or at least until we have a bit more time to take interest in the life of others - and that will probably be on the day we’re at our deathbed and we start thinking of who will be there at the funeral. Yeahh.

All right, enough with the heavy thoughts. At a time like this, there’s really only one thing you can do - Suit Up and watch a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother! See ya at the next blog entry.. toodles.
